7 Steps to a Successful Move
Welcome to Northwest Washington! I have helped many clients buy and sell homes in this area, and am so excited to share information about our community with you. To get you started, I have compiled a list of the top 7 steps to relocating. Relocating can be stressful, but I am here to help.
Our communities are diverse in culture and and abundant with wonderful outdoor activities. Resting between the Olympic and Cascade mountain range, you’ll enjoy the natural beauty of the Olympic Peninsula and the various landscapes and waterways. Relocating here is a dream, but nothing can make a move easier than gathering information about the surrounding communities. I am here to help answer any questions you might have about schools, the economy, healthcare, and communities in our area. To get started, please visit our Communities page for more information. I want to help you choose the community that is right for you.
Identify your neighborhood
You will want to start with prioritizing your needs and wants when it comes to neighborhoods. Do you want to be near the ferry? Do you want a home with a high walkability factor? Does rural property suit you best? I am happy to point you in the right direction once you have an idea of what you’re looking for. If you’re still not sure, schedule a visit! I would love to show you around and let you see the area for yourself.
Find your home
Once you’ve narrowed down your neighborhood, we can start searching for your new home within your budget. This is the fun part, where we get to work together to find that perfect home for you. If you need to sell your current home, you will want to do that now. I can advise you on how to time your purchase and sale.
Prepare for Departure
Allow yourself plenty of time to pack and communicate with your family about the move. If you have children, talk to them about their new home and neighborhood. Alleviating some of the mysteries will help dispel the apprehension of relocating. If you are retiring, you will be preparing yourself for leaving the old and starting a new adventure and way of life.
If you are able to move in to your new home as soon as you arrive, good. Sometimes the timing doesn’t work exactly with your schedule. Make sure you plan for a hotel room or other stay options if you think you will arrive prior to your home being available.
You will want your utilities turned on, and your mail forwarded to your new address.
Do you have remodeling plans? Even if you just plan to add a new coat of paint, it is easier to get that done before you unpack. I am happy to help you arrange for well qualified contractors and services that you would like to have done.
